Oh my … there is a definite feel of Autumn here.
The shop is beginning to feel it too.
Candles in the most beautiful scents and completely plastic free.
Beautiful books to cosy up with, you know that best feeling, when you become utterly absorbed and lost in completely your own little world.
And bunches of eucalyptus … lots and lots of it.
Have a lovely day xx
Well … after having a very lovely holiday, it’s back to this favourite little shop and two wonderful weddings.
I hope you all had the happiest of days.
You may have read in previous posts of my nerves and insecurities that come with doing wreath workshops, but, people are so very kind and we have had such lovely lovely evenings doing them before, that we set two dates for winter wreath workshops, which have, delightedly, already sold out.
We may put another one on so please still email if you are interested.
Thank you so much xx
And this little shop garden continues to delight with its unruliness and slightly chaotic ways.
We are open all weekend.
Happy Friday xx
A gentle evening of winter wreath making in our tiny shop at Cedar Farm.
If you would like to spend a couple of hours making your very own wreath, then we would love you to join us.
All materials and foliage will be provided, we love wild and natural but who knows what may happen. You may just like to bring a pinny.
We have two dates planned, the 27th November and the 11th December. The cost is £45.
Prosecco and cake will of course be provided.
6.30 - 8.30pm at The Potting Sheds, Cedar Farm, Back lane, Mawdesley.
Any purchases made from our little shop on the night will receive a 10% discount.
As our shop is tiny, places are limited. Please email shop@thepottingsheds.com , stating your chosen date, to reserve your place.
Thank you xx
We seem to finally have a summer, which is so so lovely, except for those people who work doing physical labour, in 32 degree heat, and no access to ice lollies, or cold watermelon, or gin with frozen orange slices.
This little shop is in a very shady spot, not as in gangsters hanging from blacked out windowed cars, I mean a shady corner of the courtyard, which is a good thing on hot days.
We had a delivery earlier, so lots and lots of new plants for inside and out.
And this book, it’s just lovely, written by the girls who run I gigi home store in Brighton. Click to buy
And my Mol has found her happy place with a little sunshade.
xx
Has been just lovely … the best type. A funny, mixed up, full of laughing, why ever should we not, type of week.
We had a day out, a sunny breakfast in our special Kirby Lonsdale, and then on to revisit the very beautiful Gresgarth Hall, again, which was just as gorgeous as last time.
Then it was back to work and out gardening.
This garden has just been redesigned with new paths, raised beds and patio areas and is just lovely.
We planted a box hedge and roses, underplanted with lavender, lupins and geraniums, to line the new path to the porch.
We planted lavender and box hedges
Old troughs were planted with delphiniums, foxgloves, gaura and geraniums.
It was a scorching hot day, the water sprinklers were used not only for the plants. It was the most tranquil place.
And then, a very unexpected and impromptu day out to Tatton Flower show.
But as I am actually very busy, I shall save my nattering about that until another time.
It is Mawdesley scarecrow festival this weekend, there are lots of activities and events going on at Cedar Farm, please see their website for details.
And , if you are still with me …. I watched a really special moment this morning. A lovely gentleman cyclist turned up on his bike, his friends where already here and they started to sing happy birthday to him. He is 89 today, he was evacuated here in the war and stayed. Happy birthday, I hope you had a lovely day xx
“Would you check my hair for chicken mites” was my greeting this morning as I got out of Lota, part of the joy of being based on a farm I guess, I have been wriggly ever since.
We are thinking ahead to the end of the school term and thank you gifts.

too much? Not for the shop girl who had two McDonald’s for tea.
Oh … and I was told this evening (it was announced in a sort of, this is a very important matter way), that, you should never, ever, buy a watermelon which is bigger than your head.
I hope this is useful xx
It’s pouring down outside so I have come indoors whilst it passes, except it no longer seems to be a little shower, more a sort of, last all day downpour. That’s cosy though.
The tiny garden is utterly unruly and staying within none of its boundaries, which is quite right and lovely xx
No need for cardigans today which is so lovely. We have the doors wide open, there was talk of a storm but that didn’t happen.
The tiny shop garden is exceeding all of our expectations .... it’s full of all the things I love, except hollyhocks, which aren’t keen on me.
Our cornflowers, scabious and ammi are being snipped regularly to use in the shop posies.
New additions this week include

C’est magnifique n’est pas!
And did anybody watch Gresgarth on tv the other night ... wow, if you can’t get to go in real life, the programme was almost as good as xx
Sunday saw the return of Croston Open Gardens ... it’s the third year that The Potting Sheds have sponsored this beautiful event and it was everything we could have hoped for.
The base for the day was the beautiful Old Catholic Chapel in the grounds of Croston Old Hall.
A stunning, hidden away venue which housed, tea and cakes, beautiful terracotta pots thrown by a local potter, food vans, a plant and flower stall, ice creams and, of course Prosecco.
Communal tables were set and cakes were baked (lots and lots)
Ten gardens opened and each and every single one was beautiful.
Who knew what was behind the houses that we pass by every day.
100’s of people set off, map in hand, to explore the village and enjoy the loveliest of days.
Thank you to every single one of you who came, and for all the kindness, help and support, thank you xxxx
The Recreation Park
Sunday also saw the grand re-opening of the Recreational Park.
The Rec committee, along with The Potting Sheds, have transformed a once unloved field into the most beautiful communal space that we could ever have hoped for.
From this ..
To this ..
We now have a picnic area, an outdoor gym, a natural playground and a 5 a side football pitch. Search @crostonrec for more details.
Paths wind around the park allowing everyone, of all ages, to enjoy time on here, a very lovely to thing to see.
A very special weekend ... one to be remembered for a long time xx
